  1. The topic of my Visual Argument is political and religious violence. My audience is anyone that believes the opposite of what I'm trying to portray and I'm trying to persuade those people to act. I haven't started taking pictures yet and I will be adding text to it. The text will provide my message and the pictures themselves will strengthen the argument that I portray using the text. I'm going to try to portray an alternative to what I feel is the wrong way to think about this topic.
P.S. There is no indication of my side on purpose, it'll ruin the surprise.

  2. My topic idea for the visual argument assignment is about the importance of recycling. My audience is intended to be at everyone in the world because almost everyone has thrown something in the trash that could have been recycled. My goal is to persuade people to act and change their habits when it come to trash cans. I have not begun to capture my pictures yet, but I plan to take them on my own and incorporate text with them in order to better portray the message. My idea for the design is to use images that show how items that could have been recycled are in the trash. I also plan to incorporate some large text on the image that will make my purpose for the visual more clear.

  3. Through my visual argument I am going to portray the importance of healthy eating. My audience is everyone, but specifically college students. My intention is to persuade people to act and make healthier eating choices. I have not started to take pictures yet, and I will use text to help emphasize the meaning of my images. I plan to use pictures and text to show the variety of food choices on campus and how convenient it is to make unhealthy decisions. My goal is to inform people of the importance of healthy eating and to convince them to make better decisions.

  4. For my visual argument, I plan on stressing the risks of texting while driving. My audience is everyone who drives a car and has a cell phone, however it is mostly targeted at teenagers and college students. I have not taken photos yet, however I do plan on incorporating text into my argument. My goal is to show that texting while driving can and has killed people and should be avoided at all costs.

  5. The topic for my visual argument is littering. My audience is anyone that litters or has littered before. With my visual argument, I will try to make people understand why littering is bad and persuade them to stop littering. I have not taken any pictures yet, but I know it will be easy to capture images of litter because it is everywhere. Along with my pictures, I will incorporate text that makes my visual argument against litter more powerful and direct.

  6. My idea for the visual argument assignment is to create an image for a dog adoption campaign. The audience for the image is really anyone that sees it--the topic applies to everyone. The goal of the image is get people to act by adopting a dog. I have a few pictures already and I will be adding some text, however the main focus will be on the pictures. I'm hoping that the text and pictures will create an appeal to emotion (pathos) with a little bit of information (logos) to support the campaign.

  7. My visual argument topic is about the negative effects of animal testing and why it should be illegal. I am aiming to persuade my audience, all individuals who are willing to listen and who also presumably buy or consume products that have been tested on animals, that it is outright wrong and cruel to test on animals. By using images of animals that might appeal to pathos, I will persuade my audience. Along with facts of the horrible effects of animal testing, photos of injured animals and of products that use animal testing will help me to portray my point.

  8. I am creating a recruitment poster for potential Clemson students. My poster will include pictures of the campus and Clemson's national rankings. The idea is to have the images capture the audience's attention and add large text offering students to join their "new home". The poster will emphasis a "homie" and soft tone to make potential students to feel welcome. The goal is to convince students to come to Clemson .

  9. My topic for my visual argument is about taking care of the environment, so I am making my audience everyone who litters on campus or anywhere in general. My argument is aimed to make people aware of how poorly they are treating the environment because there's trash everywhere. Hopefully the pictures (that I haven't taken yet) will make people understand how bad littering is and that we need to stop. I will also probably include some text to make my argument stronger and leave the viewer with a powerful statement that will influence them to think before littering.

  10. With all the natural disasters and political discourse going on in the world right now, i decided to make a visual argument that will convince people to stop chewing with their mouth open. My intended audience is any human being who has or plans on eating a piece of food (or chew gum). It'll probably be a set of images featuring a person losing their family and friends due to not being able to chew with their mouth closed.

  11. My visual argument will be an advertisement for the Clemson Offroad Club. The intended audience is anyone who is looking to experience new adventures and have an outlet to experience the outdoors. I haven't taken any pictures yet but I am going camping with the club this weekend and I can take pictures there. I will come up with an attractive caption for my visual argument to go with my picture.

  13. My visual argument is that you shouldn't distract yourself so much with your phone or other electronics when you're with friends, family, or just out in public in general. I think my audience, in general, will probably be younger people because they tend to be the ones who do this. You don't really see older people staring at their phones during dinner or things like that. I think that I will probably try to convince people of the validity of my argument, and try to get them to act. I think this argument is one where you have to change very little about your habits, therefore it is easy to get people to act. I have not yet begun taking pictures, and I don't know if I will add text, it depends on how well I think the message gets across without it. If I don't add text, I'll probably just have people playing on their phones in public, and then people who aren't on their phones, enjoying the company of others. They'll interact by showing a contrast of what it could be like if you play your phone, versus if you don't.
